Brief Description

Returning for its ninth showing, this race has been the go-to event for hundreds of area trail runners looking for an awesome day of running in the woods. Held in one of the largest and most beautiful parks in the Washington DC metro area, these single-loop race courses have it all, from forested hiking trails, to wide fire roads, to stream-side single-track.

Venue

With its massive acreage, stunning terrain, and remote feel, Prince William Forest Park is a hidden gem located just 30 minutes south of Washington D.C.

Course:

The 13.1 mile half marathon course includes 11.4 miles of twisty singletrack hiking trails, 1.1 miles of forested fire roads, and .6 miles of pavement at race start. The 10K course (6 miles actual distance) includes 4.3 miles of twisty singletrack hiking trails, .5 miles of forested fire roads, and 1.1 miles of pavement (with .6 miles of pavement at race start). Both courses offer miles of tranquil streamside trail running.

Age Groups

Male and Female for both Half Marathon and 10K: 29-Under, 30-39, 40-49, 50+

Awards

For both the Half Marathon and 10K, the top five male and female finishers in each age group will receive awards.

Entry Fee Includes

Fun and challenging course design, limited race entry (450 total), professional race operations, wonderful volunteer support, aid stations, medical support, accurate results, timely posting of results on the EX2 website, plentiful post-race food, electric atmosphere, great music, awards, and colorful t-shirts.

Aid Stations

Water and Gatorade is provided at aid stations every 1.5-3 miles along the course. Gu and/or powergel is provided at select aid stations.

T-shirts

High-quality Zorrel Z100 t-shirts for men and Next Level ‘boyfriend’ (slim fit) t-shirts for women are distributed at the EX2 Off-Road Half Marathon and 10K. Any racer may order either the men’s tee or the women’s tee. All racers that register at least 10 days before the event are guaranteed a t-shirt in their specified size.
