Enjoy the cheers and support of hundreds of spectators as they line the parade route, eagerly awaiting the annual Downtown Topeka kickoff of the Christmas holiday season - the 17th Annual Miracle On Kansas Avenue Parade. Holiday lights and decorations will provide an especially festive atmosphere as you wind your way along Kansas Avenue.
Runners will do two loops of the parade route (3.1 miles total) from the start line located in front of the Bank of America building at 534 S Kansas Ave, to the finish line located in front of Wolfes Camera at 633 S Kansas Ave. Walkers will do one loop of the parade route (1.5 miles total), starting at the same time and location as the runners and walkers will finish in front of the Bank of America building.
All preregistered participant's will receive a technical T-shirt with their entry fee. Late entrants cannot be guaranteed T-shirt availability. All participant's are eligible to win any of the fabulous door prizes that have been provided by generous area merchants. Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, to the first male and female Masters finishers (age 40-49), to the first male and female Grand Masters finishers (age 50-59), and to the first male and female Senior Grand Masters finishers (over 60). Age group awards will be presented to the first three male and female finishers in the following age group categories: 12 & under, 13-15, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & up
Team competiton returns to the Rescue Run in 2011. Traveling trophies will be awarded to the 1st place team in Corporate and Church Member categories. Teams must consist of five team members and the fastest combined finished time of each team will determine the winner in both categories. Team members are also eligible to receive any applicable overall or age group award that they may receive as a result of their performance.
For insurance purposes and the safety of all involved, runner's are not allowed to push strollers. Walkers may do so as long as they start at the rear of the pack and do not block the progress of runner's at any time during the event. ALL participant's are required to wear their race number, visible on their front side at all times during the event. ALL participant's are instructed to position themselves in the proper area of the pack at the start line so as to not impede the progress of faster participant's behind them. NO participant may wear headsets, earphones, or Ipod's, skates or rollerblades, or bring animals or bikes on the race course at any time during the event. The race course will be closed to all vehicle traffic until the parade start at 6:00 PM but please be aware of, and alert for spectators who may get in the way as they attempt to travel to their preferred position along the parade route. All participants must sign and date the waiver and correctly complete the attached registration form.
Free parking will be available in the area north and west of the start line which is located in the 500 block of S Kansas Avenue. Early arrival is recommended as many parade goers will be seeking those same parking spots.
Post-race snacks and beverages will be provided courtesy of area merchants. The Awards Ceremony will be presented in the Bank of America building at approximately 7:00 pm.
Early registrant's may pick their packets up and late registrations will be accepted on Friday, November 25th from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at the Bank of America building.
Race day Registrations will be accepted at the packet pickup inside the Bank of America building, 534 S Kansas Avenue from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Saturday November 26, 2011. T-shirt availability is NOT guaranteed for late registrant's.
