Brief Description

The Brunswick Family Assistance 10K, 5K & 1-mile Fun Run is held at Sea Trail Resort near Sunset Beach. The courses are flat and fast traveling through the pretty neighborhoods of the resort. Inside bathrooms are available and the awards ceremony will be held in a large clubhouse cabana with refreshments, prize drawings, and more. Nice shirts, 2-deep awards in 5-year age grops, and 3-deep in Overall winner categories. Strollers are welcomed. Dedicated 7:30 am 10K Walker start.

Courses

The 10K course is a loop course with a short out and back near the finish to get a very accurate 10K distance. The 5K course is an out and back. Both courses are flat and fast through picturesque residential areas with enough turns to keep it interesting. The 1-mile Fun Run is an out and back.

Awards and Prize Drawings

Awards are 2-deep M/F in 5 year age groups, with Overall M/F Winner categories going 3-deep. After the race there will be prize drawings drawn by race number for gift certificates from local running stores and other prizes from race sponsors. The prizes are always interesting and plentiful and are a highlight of the post race activities, as are the delicious local melons and 'lopes from Holden Brothers Farm Market! It's great post race refuel food.

Pre-Race Packet Pickup/Registration

Pre-Race Packet Pickup/Registration will be held at New Balance in Mayfaire, 6801 Parker Farm Dr Friday afternoon from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. New Balance is near the Harris Teeter in Mayfaire. You can also register for the race as well as pick up your packet and snag some great running gear and supplies while you're there.

Race Features

There will be Chronotag Timing with your timing chip integral to your race number. Your race number must be worn of the FRONT on your body. The course travels over smooth, flat pavement in residential neighborhoods with very little traffic. There will be 3 water stops on the 10K course, one water stop on the 5K.

10K Walk

The 10K Walk starts at 7:30 am and will cover the same course as the 10K run. There is a 2 hour time limit which equates to 19:20 per mile pace. Fitness Walkers receive the same shirts as 10K runners. Walker times are accurate and will be included in the runner age group time categories so that if you are in the top 2 in your age group then you could receive an award. BE SURE to register as a walker if you start at 7:30 am so that your time will be accurate.

Race Day Registration 6:30 - 7:45 am

Register race day the large cabana to the right of the main resort building. Look for the large yellow sign.

1-Mile Fun Run

Everyone who completes the Fun Run will receive an award. Start time is 7:40 for the 1-mile. Walkers and strollers are welcome, as they are in the 5K & 10K

Race Day Packet Pickup

6:30 - 7:45 am in the large cabana to the right of the main resort building. Look for the large yellow sign.

3 RACE SERIES: The BFA 10K at Sea Trail is part of the 3-Race Series followed by the First Bank Oktoberfest 15K at Brunswick Forest on September 29th and the Carolina Sports Medicine Battleship Half Marathon on November 3rd. Athletes who do all three races (including Walkers) will recieve a prize package including items from us 5 Star Race Productions and our sponsors. The BFA 10K, 5K and 1-mile Fun Run at Sea Trail by itself will be an excellent event but adding the race to a 3-race series with each distance increasing seems like a great way to motivate runners to prepare for longer distances gradually and enjoy doing it, while receiving a nice prize package in the process.
