August 12, 2011 11:59 PM Pacific Time The Course:
The Relay Race begins atop picturesque Mt. Spokane and winds its way through fifteen different cities en route to the finish line at the beach in beautiful Sandpoint, Idaho. Throughout the 185 mile course runners experience over 50 miles of World Class Centennial Trail, over 60 miles of property adjacent to waterfront, and dash their way through several enchanting State Parks and National Forests! You’re going to love where you run! How It Works:
It is really quite simple. Get a group of twelve runners together, gather up two vans, and prepare for your most memorable race of the year! The course is comprised of 36 legs each runner races 3 legs varying in distances from 3-8 miles. The Race is continuous; therefore competitors will run through day and night! The course is designed with easy legs for your beginning jogger and more challenging legs for your experienced runners. Overall, Spokane to Sandpoint is considered a “FLAT” Relay Race. There are a few hills during the 190 miles, but 31 of the 36 legs have a net elevation gain of less than 100 feet (spread out over the 3-8 miles). If you’re looking for “flat and fast” along with SCENIC and FUN then this is the Race for you! WHAT MAKES THIS
RACE UNIQUE?:
WHAT MAKES THIS RACE DIFFERENT FROM ANY OTHER EVENT IS THE FACT THAT AT MILE 122 YOUR TEAM IS GOING TO TAKE THE RIDE OF THEIR LIFE ABOARD SILVERWOOD THEME PARK’S TREMORS ROLLERCOASTER! SILVERWOOD IS THE NORTHWEST’S BEST THEME PARK. GET READY TO PLUNGE TOWARD THE EARTH AT OVER 60 MILES PER HOUR WHEN YOUR TEAM ARRIVES AT THIS EXCHANGE AROUND MIDNIGHT (THE ROLLER COASTER IS VOLUNTARY).
In addition to the adrenaline rush you’ll receive at Silverwood Theme Park, Spokane to Sandpoint also offers some fun and unique challenges and contests.
