We’re not just another 5k. Our run/walk seeks to raise money & awareness that while AIDS is a global health threat, it is also a major cause of death for Long Islanders. Cancer, breast cancer specifically, is also a major cause of death for Long Island women. Free confidential AIDS testing & counseling will be provided by Long Island Minority AIDS Coalition. See Additional Information below to see how we helped improve the lives of people living with HIV and cancer in 2009.
Race packet-pick up between 7:15AM – 8:30AM. Water and energy drinks will be provided at the start of the race, mid-point and race finish. Snacks will be provided at the finish as well. After the 5K there will be prizes and gift certificates given away by a lottery drawing. New USATF 5k certified running course entirely within park. Great run for kids
Go to Mapquest and click on maps, then select the address 3360 Merrick Road, Seaford, NY as your destination. (do not park in 3360 lot) The main park entrance is immediately west. However, the main entrance will be closed to traffic. Proceed four blocks east on Merrick Road and head south at Cedar Street which will lead you into the park. You will be directed to park on the soccer fields and the start of the race will be near the tennis bathrooms.
Awards / Trophies: Top 3 male & female overall winners, top 3 male & female under 12, 13-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+. Wheelchair awards to top 3 finishers

The Foundation will be raising money for Center of AIDS Research & Treatment at North Shore Universiy Hospital in Manhasset. The money would be used for transporting patients for medical services and social gatherings organized by this group. The Foundation will also raise money to start a running club for HIVers, cancer survivors & friends. The Foundation will be sponsoring two FREE annual 5K Run / Walks for HIVers, Cancer Survivors & Friends.
The Foundation donates toys to Schneider Children’s Hospital. The Foundation also donates gift baskets to people living with HIV/AIDS and cancer who are associated with Center of AIDS Research & Treatment at North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) and Long Island Minority AIDS Coalition and cancer survivors at NSUH.
In 2009, thanks to your support, the following items were donated: $12,000 in gift items to people living with HIV and cancer, $2,000 in toys to children living with cancer at Schneider Childrens Hospital, and $1,000 to Center of AIDS Research & Treatment at North Shore University Hospital. The Foundation also sponsored a FREE 5K Run / Walk for HIVers, Cancer Survivors & Friends at Oceanside Park. Between the two Events $8,000 was given away in FREE lottery prizes.
