Brief Description

Online registration will close at midnight pacific time on 10/5/2011. Late registration will begin at 6:00 a.m. at Giuseppes Restaurant for the Half Marathon & at Dinosaur Caves Park for the 5k

This scenic half marathon starts @ downtown San Luis Obispo and finishes in Pismo Beach.

Proceeds from the City to the Sea 1/2 Marathon to benefit Cuesta College Track and Field.

Important Information

Packet pick-up

Packet pick up will take place on Saturday, Oct.8th at RunningWarehouse from 1-5 p.m. 181 Suburban Road, San Luis Obispo 93401. Sunday, October 9th registration and race day packet pick-up will take place at Giuseppes Restaurant on Monterey and Court St (half marathon) and at Dinosaur Caves Park (5K) from 6:00 am to 7:00 am.

Course

City to the Sea 1/2 Marathon is a point to point run beginning in downtown San Luis and finishing at Pismo Beach. The course runs downhill for 6 miles before beginning a series of rolling hills, at different grades, along country roads at miles 7-10. The last 3 miles of downhill running you are met with gorgeous views of the pacific ocean. City to the Sea 5k runs along the ocean front neighborhoods of Dinosaur Cave Park. The course has slight inclines/declines with one hill.

Aid

Five aid stations including liquids and emergency medical services are provided along the course. Bathroom's can be found at the start line, 7/9 mile marker and finishing area.

Weather

Average high temperatures for October in San Luis Obispo reach 79 degrees with average lows in the 50's. Pismo Beach is generally 2-5 degrees cooler. Average rainfall is .05 inches. The 2010 City to the Sea race was beautiful and sunny.

5K Fees

The 5K Run starts at Dinosaur Caves Park, Pismo Beach.
$30 registration until June 1st. $35 registration from June 2nd - September 28th. $40 registration from Sept 29th - Oct 5th. $45 registration at packet pick-up Saturday, October 8th @ Running Warehouse 181 Suburban Rd from 1 - 5 pm, or race day, October 9th, from 6:00 - 7:00 am at the 5k start.

What you get...

All registered runners receive: paid Active registration fee, paid Eternal Timing fee, an official event t-shirt, finishers medal and post race breakfast from Scotty's Bar & Grill, hosted at the Dinosaur Cave Park overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Additional meal tickets may be purchased (for $10) at the event. One of SLO's best bands will be playing, free of charge, for your entertainment! Transportation will be provided after the race back to downtown SLO when the bus is full.

Awards

Coffee mugs to the first 100 finishers across the finish line. Awards to top 3 overall finishers, men and women, in the half marathon & 5k. AWARDS MEDAL to all finishers. Age group placings are listed through Eternal Timing on our results site.

Safety

The course is open for three hours only. Walkers must finish within that time period to participate in the half-marathon. Walkers that start before the race starting time will NOT be allowed through the finish chute. Sorry, no baby strollers, baby joggers, pets, or skates allowed on the course. Considerations made for runners with special needs. The course in suitable for wheelchair athletes.
