Welcome to the 1st Annual American Hero 25K Relay and Concert brought to you by the Free Spirits Track Club Inc. a Texas non-profit IRS 501 c 3 Public Charity established to promote running and athletic events, to raise scholarships for cancer survivors (and other diseases including blindness and child abuse) and to honor Our American Heroes. This event will also donate part of the proceeds to nonprofit organizations listed in this registration. Please check off your preferred organization. .

Goal:
Our goal is to get the entire community to recognize our many local heroes and to help our brave young survivors further their education through your entry fees, donations and admission donations by promoting running and athletic events.
Relay Info:
This is the first distance relay of its kind in the world and should be a lot of fun and a truly memorable experience.
1. 5 person 25K Relay (Alamo Stadium and Brackenridge Park)
2. The Relay will start in the stadium, run through Brackenridge Park, return to the stadium for handoffs and finish in the stadium.
3. All handoffs in front of the audience (in Alamo Stadium) for easy viewing and tracking
4. Relay Tracking: Large clock on the field and leading teams announced over the PA and posted in large letters near the track
5. Audience and participants will also have the American Hero 25K Relay Yearbook with all runners and team names for easy tracking
6. Music and entertainment will be provided. Jay Tope, SAsports, will be our MC & DJ, Lady Heat Rays cheerleaders will conduct cheerleader competition, Donny Edwards and Fever (Two time world champ Elvis tribute artist and band), Mariachi Las Coronelas, Kat Cooper, Network for Young Artists and other entertainers will perform. Prizes will be hit into the audience every 15 to 30 minutes.
7. Awards Ceremony: American Hero Awards, Scholarship Awards, Cheerleader Awards and Race Awards
8. Note: Elementary and Middle School Teams may run from the same schools under any name. High schools may run from the same school but not the formal school name and they cannot run in the school uniform. Ex. You cannot run as Edison High School Bears but you can run as The E Bears, The Big Bears, The Mightly Bears, etc. If more than one team with the same name occurs a number will follow their names, i.e. 1, 2, 3, etc.
Refund Policy:
All entries are non- refundable even if event is cancelled. Note: In 40 years and over 200 running events the Free Spirits have never cancelled an event. We run rain or shine. After expenses all funds go towards scholarships to graduating seniors and GED grads who have survived deadly diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, child abuse, etc. For any reason, please don't ask for a refund. Your understanding is appreciated.
Categories, Late and Alternate Registrations:
If a team (all 5 members) has inadvertently multiple categories they will be placed in the most appropriate category. Changes to registration after 25 May 2011 can be made at Packet Pickup (recommended), Sat 28 May, Spaghetti Warehouse, 1226 E. Houston from 10AM to 6PM and on race day (NOT RECOMMENDED) starting at 7AM on the field registration table. It will take time to make all changes so be there early.
Registration: $39 till 24 May 2011, 11:59 PST. $50 after 24 May at Packet Pickup and at the gate on the day of the event NLT 8AM, 29 May 2011. Fill out registration card, pay fee and take card to field registration for processing. Alternates: All alternates must have bib number (from the person they are replacing) to get into the stadium without an entry fee.
Entry fee for alternates without a bib number is $50 at the entrance. Fill out alternate card, pay fee and take card to the field registration table for processing. Make sure you know your team name.
Divisions
Please Note: All 25k Relay Divisions and Run 25k Solo Divisions are for runners only. This is due to time constraints. Walking is allowed only in the Run/Walk 5k Solo Divisions. Race Walkers must adhere to strict USATF Rules of Race Walking. Beginning Race Walkers may go to RaceWalk.com for more info.
Awards
All Paid Registrants: American Hero 25k Relay T-shirt
All Distance Races: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals for all divisions except for Kids Run.
The rest of the finishers will receive American Hero 25K Relay Memorial Medals. No duplicate awards
ALL CAPTAINS will receive an engraved baton with the words "INAUGURAL AMERICAN HERO 25K RELAY" this is the same baton that will be used in the race. Only one captain per team. The Captain is the person responsible for putting the team together. Go to AmericanHero25kRelay.org for more details
The Kids 10 and Under Division: Large custom made American Hero 25k Relay Memorial Ribbons
Audience and Runners/Walkers will randomly get cash gifts and sponsor prizes throughout the event.
NOTE: ALL CAPTAINS WILL RECEIVE AN ENGRAVED BATON WITH THE WORDS "1ST ANNUAL AMERICAN HERO 25K RELAY" THIS IS THE SAME BATON THAT WILL BE USED IN THE RACE.
