Remembering Jordy Rourke

The RED BUG HILL CHALLENGE is held in memory of Jordy Rourke, who died unexpectedly of a heart attack in May 2008. Although Jordy was born with Spina Bifida and used a leg brace to walk, he led a full and active life. He had just completed his second year at Millsaps College. Jordy enjoyed many things: fishing, swimming playing the guitar, and spending time with family and friends. He led a life of service, working with Habitat for Humanity, Campus Ministry, and Lions Camp.

About Spina Bifida

Spina Bifida occurs within the first month of pregancy, resulting in an incomplete closure of the spinal column. Spina Bifida is the most frequently occurring permanently disabling birth defect affecting approximately 1 out of every 1000 newborns in the U.S. Spina Bifida's effects can be neurological and/or orthopedic. For more information, see www.SBGNO.org

Proceeds and Donations

All proceeds and donations from the RED BUG HILL CHALLENGE will help individuals with Spina Bifida in Louisiana. Donate in any of three ways: 1., online when registering, 2., to SB of GNO, P.O.Box 1346, Kenner, LA 70063, or by check on the day of the event.
