Parking

Some parking will be available at the Rohnert Park Community Center until 8:30 am, parking after that time and over flow parking will be located across the street at Rancho Cotati High School, 5450 Snyder Lane, Rohnert Park, CA 94928

Details

Computerized Chip Timing called D-TAGS will be used for all participants. Goodie bags and race T-shirt sizes guaranteed for all pre- registered runners/walkers, otherwise first come, first serve.

Awards

Awards ceremony will take place near the finish line of the race at approximately 10:30 am. Overall male and female winners will be awarded. Awards also given to 1st through 3rd place in both male and female age groups as stated; 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and older.

Packet pickup

To avoid race day congestion, late registration and packet pickup will be available and encouraged on Thur Dec 1st and Fri Dec 2nd from 3-7:00 pm at Fleet Feet, 111 3rd Street, Santa Rosa, CA. Race day registration and packet pickup will begin at 7:00 am and end at 8:30 am at the race location. Race day registration fees are $40 for ages 18 and over and $30 for age 17 and under. T-shirts and goodie bags will be limited and first come first serve on race day.

Proceeds

Proceeds from the New Balance Girls on the Run 5k Sonoma County will provide program and shoe scholarships to financially deserving participants and expand teams into new locations.

Brief Course Description

The 5K run/walk will begin and end in the parking lot of the Rohnert Park Community Center, rain or shine. The run/walk will use the beautiful Copeland Creek pathway which is a flat, paved, course surrounded with trees. There will be one water station about midway on the course and water and snacks for all race participants at the finish line.

The course is suitable for runners and walkers of any level. Strollers are permitted in the back of the race start. Please allow for faster runners to be at the front of the race start. For safety on the course: please no dogs, bikes, roller blades, or wagons.

About us

Girls on the Run is a life-changing, non-profit program for girls in 3rd through 8th grades. Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

During the 12-week program, girls are taught specific life lessons such as dealing with body image and the media, resisting peer pressure and making healthy decisions with combined training for a 5K (3.1 miles). For more information about Girls on the Run, visit www.gotrsonomacounty.org.

Girls participating in our Fall 2011 GOTR program come from all over Sonoma County including: Healdsburg, Rohnert Park, Penngrove, Petaluma, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Sonoma, and Windsor
