Brief Description

The proceeds from this event will go directly to the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS-TDI) to be used for ALS research. The first 9 editions of the Medved 5K to Cure ALS raised over $140,000 for the ALS-TDI.

Event Information

5K Race starts at 8:30 am; 1 mile youth run starts at 9:15 am; 1 mile stroll starts at 9:15 am. Our event is sanctioned by USATF an the course is certified to be accurate (NY04021KL). The course runs you through the historic Brown's Square Neighborhood and finishes inside Frontier Field behind home plate.

Awards/Refreshments

Awards to the top 10% in each age group; Awards to the fastest Father/Son and Father Daughter; Unclaimed awards available for pickup until June 27, 2010; Ceremony and post-race refreshments to be held in the "Nest" at 10:00 am.

Kids vs. Spikes the Mascot

Starts at 9:45am inside Frontier Field. There will be separate age group races and distances for those 5 & under, 6-7 and 8-9. All participants who outrun Spikes will receive a ribbon and merchandise courtesy of the Red Wings. Registration for Kids vs. Spikes races will be $2 and begin at 7am on race day at Frontier Field.

Free Parking at Kodak Lot D, located across from the main entrance to Frontier Field.

Packet Pick-Up

Saturday, June 19, 2010 from 10am - 5pm at Medved Running and Walking Outfitters, 3400 Monroe Avenue, Rochester, NY 14618. Register or pick up your packet in person on this day, check out our Brooks packet pick-up specials.

Race Day Information

Race day registration begins at 7am, inside the main entrance of Frontier Field.

Race Timing

The race will be timed by PCR Timing using their DAG System. This system embeds a wire into the race bib to provide accurate, hassle free race results. Race results will be posted immediately after the race at Frontier Field and on-line at www.pcrtiming.com.

Additional Information

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. Over 30,000 people are currently afflicted with this non-curable disease. The average life expectancy after diagnosis is between 18-24 months. An additional tax deductible donation can be given by a check made out to ALS-TDI and submitted with this race form.
