Brief Description

Rochester will be the playground for 200 four-person teams who will test their problem-solving skills and athleticism in a race to the finish line. There will be 10 challenge sites along a route that’s approximately 4 miles long through the Greater Rochester community. Each site will have either a physical or mental challenge that each team must complete to continue on to the next site.

Attention Great Michigan Racers: Due to circumstances beyond our control, the 2nd Annual Great Michigan Race has been postponed until May 19, 2012. We hope you and your registered teammates are still be able to join us on the new date for this one-of-a-kind family fun adventure to benefit Special Olympics Michigan!

Fundraising Incentives!

• Time deductions – Every minute counts! We have many opportunities for teams to earn time deductions the day of the race. • Fast Pass – Skip a challenge or use a Fast Pass to reverse a "failed challenge". • GMR Gear – Wear your pride on your sleeve or head! • Michigan Adventure Weekend – Top fundraising teams will enjoy a weekend at Michigan Adventure.

Fundraising

STEP 3: "FUN"draising - Setup a Fundraising Page today to increase your team's chance to win big while helping the event's benefactor Special Olympics Michigan.

Raise an added $500 ($1,000 total) - team gets logoed merchandise.

Raise an added $1,000 ($1,500 total) - team gets a "Fast Pass" to skip a challenge.

Each team member can set-up their own page to help the team reach their goal!

More Fundraising Challenges:

Raise an added $2,000 ($2,500 Total) - team gets a "Fast Pass" plus 10 minutes deducted from your overall time.

Raise an added $4,500 ($5,000 Total) - team gets entered into a drawing at a chance to win a Michigan Adventure weekend.

Raise an added $9,500 ($10,000 Total) - team members get to be V.I.P. guests at either the Special Olympics Michigan's Winter or Summer Games from opening ceremonies to the awards celebration.

Race Day

STEP 4: Show up on Race Day ready for a fun and unique experience.

Race Day Check-In:

Race begins at 10:00am on May 19, 2012.

Racer check-in: 9:00am

Vendor check-in: TBD.

What It Is:

A unique competition for the adventurous at heart (men and women 18 years of age or older). 200 4-person teams who will follow a route to get from one destination to the next.

Run, walk or crawl to 10 different sites where your team will solve a clue and complete a mental or physical challenge.

An all-day event including an awards celebration with prizes, food and entertainment, to recognize those who excel, place and just show-up.

What It's Not:

It's not a scavenger hunt or road rally.

It's not a quiz bowl or spelling bee.

It's not another walk or 5K run.

It's certainly not a marathon, triathlon or "Iron Man" competition.

Additional Information

Best of all, you can fundraise your entire entry fee ($500 minimum), $0 deposit due at time of registration.(See Fundraising Incentives) Food, activities and entertainment will be available for family and friends of the race participants and the community during the event at the Family Fun and Fan Park located on the lot next to the Rochester Mills Beer Company (3rd and Water Street).
