Brief Description

Melissa Johnson and Jill Kissinger are hosting this event to honor their late husbands, Andrew “AJ” Johnson and Harry “Flip” Kissinger, who tragically lost their lives in automobile accidents, December 2008 and December 2009 respectively. AJ and Flip were dedicated firefighters with the City of Raleigh Fire Department at the time of their deaths. Both of these fine men were dedicated to the fire service.

Course

The race starts and finishes at Raleigh Fire Station 6 located at 2601 Fairview Road in Raleigh. The runners will run south on Oberlin Road to Fire Station 5 and return by the same route.

Entry Fees/T-shirts

The entry fee is $30 up to and including August 26 and $35 thereafter up to and including race day. T-shirts are guaranteed to all those who enter by August 26. After that date, it will be as supplies last.

Awards

In the 5K, the top three males overall, the top three females overall and the top three finishers in each of the following age groups will receive awards: (both sexes) 10-under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-over. The overall winners are also eligible for age group awards. Also each child age 12 and under who finishes will receive a participation ribbon.

Packet Pickup/Late Registration

Pre-registered entrants can pick up their race packets and late entrants can register at The Athlete’s Foot located at 430 Woodburn Road in Cameron Village on Thursday, September 8 from 4-7 pm or on race day at the start/finish area beginning at 6:30 am.

The race benefits...

Profits from the event will be donated to The 200 Club of Wake County and the North Carolina Fallen Firefighter’s Foundation. The former is an organization dedicated to providing immediate financial help for the spouse and children of police officers, sheriff deputies, firemen, EMS squad members and North Carolina State Highway Patrol serving in Wake County who lose their life in the line of duty. This NCFFF is organized to lead the effort to remember NC's fallen firefighters and their families.
