History

This race, first held in 2006 and run for two years as an 8K, switched to a 5K in 2009. Devin Swann was the class of the field as he led the field of 141 finishers with a 15:02 clocking. Steph Pezzullo won the women's competition in 17:50.

Course

The race starts and finishes at the NCSHP Training Facility near Garner located at 3318 Old Garner Road, Raleigh, NC 27610. Part of the race is run on the NC Highway Patrol Driving Track.

Entry Fees/T-shirts

The entry fee for the 5K is $20, $30 after September 20, up to and including race day. For the mile, the fee is $15 with no late fee, and for the Kid’s Dash the fee is $2. T0shirts will be given to the first 300 people who enter either the mile or the 5K.

5K Awards

In the 5K, cash awards of $500, $300 and $100 will be presented to the first three males and the first three females for 1ts, 2nd, and 3rd place, respectively. The top three in each of the following age divisions will also receive awards (both sexes): 15-under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70-over. Awards will also be presented to the top three male troopers and top three female troopers.

Team Competition

There also will be team competition for I the 5K. A team consists of three or more individuals who work for the same law enforcement team or military unit.

Mile/MADD"s Kids Dash

In the mile all finishers will receive an official time. The 50-yard MADD Dash is for children ages 12 and under.

Phantom Runner

Do who want to support MADD and the NC State Highway Patrol but cannot enter the race? Then enter as a Phantom Runner. Phanthom entries will receive a goody bag and t-shirt (you'll need someone to pick it up for you on race day), but will not be entered in the race.

Benefitting Charity

Profits from the race will go to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
