Brief Description

Bubba’s Belly Run is a 5K race and 1 mile Maternity Walk/Fun Run that was established in memory of Capt. Brian “Bubba” Bunting, who was killed while serving in Afghanistan in February 2009. All proceeds from Bubba’s Belly Run go directly toward supporting the families fallen service members.

Bubba's Story

Army Captain Brian “Bubba” Bunting was deployed to Afghanistan in June 2008, and returned home for 2 weeks in January '09. He was back in Afghanistan for 4 days when he was killed by a roadside bomb on February 24. Bubba and his wife, Nicki, started their family on their honeymoon, and their son, Connor, was born on July 2, 2007. Just 4 days after Nicki received the notification of Bubba's death, she found out that she was pregnant with their second child. Cooper was born on October 29.

Take CAPITAL BELTWAY toward Bethesda, MD. Take the MD-190/RIVER RD. exit, exit number 39, towards WASHINGTON/POTOMAC Merge onto MD-190 WEST/River Road toward POTOMAC and go 3.4 miles Turn RIGHT onto FALLS RD. and go 0.8 miles School entrance is on the right

Take the I-270 SOUTH toward WASHINGTON Take the exit, exit number 5-4, toward FALLS RD. (MD-189)/MONTROSE RD. Take the MD-189/FALLS RD. exit, exit number 5 Merge onto FALLS RD. toward Potomac and go about 3.8 miles School entrance is on the left

Take the I-95 SOUTH toward WASHINGTON Take the I-495 WEST exit, exit number 27-25, toward COLLEGE PARK(US1) Take the MD-190/RIVER RD. exit, exit number 39, towards WASHINGTON/POTOMAC Merge onto MD-190 WEST/RIVER RD toward POTOMAC and go 3.4 miles Turn RIGHT onto FALLS RD. and go 0.8 miles School entrance is on the right

Awards

Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female 5k finishers. A small award will be given to every youth who participates in the Fun Run.

On-Site Registration and Packet Pick-Up

Race day registration and packet pick-up will be available at Bullis School in Potomac starting at 7:30 AM.

Picking Up for Your Family and Friends

We do allow runners to pick up bibs and t-shirts for their friends. Please note that t-shirts cannot be mailed. If participating in the Virutal Run, please register by September 9 to allow your t-shirt to arrive in time. You will not need to show us your ID or copies of their ID to pick up for them.
