Brief Description

This approximately 4 mile trail run & hike loops around the Marquam Nature Park, near the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) campus. All donations will benefit the Southwest Community Health Center and the Wallace Medical Concern, two non-profit safety-net health clinics for the low-income uninsured. This year's event is dedicated to the late Dr. William Connor, who was instrumental in expanding the trails on which we'll be running and hiking. Please contact us for more information.

Directions

The #8 TriMet bus will get you to the OHSU campus, as will these driving directions. The race start will be at the uphill end of campus as you follow Sam Jackson Park Road. We will meet up in the Old Library/Auditorium building, marked "11" on this map. Parking is free.

About the Beneficiaries

The Southwest Community Health Center and Wallace Medical Concern serve as safety-net clinics that provide basic health services to those lacking adequate resources to access necessary care, i.e. to people who are uninsured and low-income. Both are non-profit members of the Coalition of Community Health Clinics.

Additional Information

The annual Hills for Humanity Trail Run & Hike is organized each year by OHSU medical students as part of national Cover the Uninsured Week. For the past five years, Hills for Humanity has raised monetary support for community safety net clinics, such as the North by Northeast Clinic a few years ago and the Garlington Behavioral Health Clinic last year. Start times will be staggered by estimated paces. These trails are well-cleared, marked, and wooded; be prepared for the hills. Awards and prize drawing after the race.
