Brief Description

The half marathon race begins in downtown Parkersburg at 8 a.m. and the two-mile will immediately follow. The half marathon course will take you out of the city and into the scenic surroundings of W.Va. before looping back into the commercial area. You will finish the race to the cheers of thousands of spectators lined up on Market Street prior to the Parkersburg Homecoming Festival Parade. The minimum age to participate is 15. There is no race day registration.

The 25th annual Parkersburg News and Sentinel Half Marathon and Two-Mile Race is set for Aug. 18, 2012 at 8 a.m. There will be no race day registration so make sure you sign up ahead of time. Like many past years we will offer our pasta dinner (Rossi Pasta) the night before as well as the pizza luncheon after the race. The price of the dinner and luncheon is included in the entry fee for the half marathon. We will use chip timing and will have packet-pick up on Friday Aug. 17 at the Parkersburg City Building located at 1 Government Square in Downtown Parkersburg. The kids races will be on Sunday, Aug. 19 at the Parkersburg High School Stadium at 1:00. There WILL be race day registration for the Tiny Tot Trot and the Junior Races.
