Additional Information
On August 30, 2009 Adriana Ospina, a dedicated labor and delivery nurse, accomplished endurance athlete, and truest friend one could hope for, experienced a traumatic mountain biking accident on the western slopes of Mt. Tamalpais. Although emergency medical care was summoned quickly, the injury to her body and head was severe. Adriana spent nearly three weeks in a coma before thrilling family and friends by coming back to limited consciousness. After numerous surgeries, Adriana faces a long difficult path of healing to rebuild her body and overcome the demanding journey of neuralgic recovery.
The road of rehabilitation will be rocky, but we can all help Adriana face this challenge.
As a registered labor and delivery nurse at Alta Bates Hospital, Adriana has helped many mothers bring their children into this world. Her peaceful spirit and contagious smile have graced so many that call her “friend.” She has ridden centuries (100 miles) on her bike, completed numerous triathlons, swam from Alcatraz and below the Golden Gate Bridge, and survived running the Double Dipsea. Adriana needs as much love and support as we can rally so that her spirit will soar once more.
