Brief Description

This is a tough 6-mile road race starting at an elev. of 6500' climbing almost 2,000' to the rim of the Black Canyon. Beautiful vistas and scenic surroundings are the hallmark of this event. After the race, enjoy visiting the spectacular Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.

COLORADO'S TOUGHEST 6-MILE ROAD RACE

The Black Canyon of the Gunnison is the ultimate destination for runners and walkers participating in the 35th Annual Black Canyon Ascent. The paved course rises steadily almost 2000' ending at the campground in the National Park.

Directions

The race starts at the intersection of US Hwy 50 and CO Hwy 347 approximately 7 miles east of Montrose. Please park in the rest area parking lot across from the store. Restroom available at the start. Walkers start earlier at 7:30 a.m.

Aid and Transportation

There will be aid stations at mile 2 and mile 4. Refreshments available at the finish. Informal shuttle rides will be organized at the end of the race.

Gear and Awards

Everyone registered before April 30th is guaranteed a nice RaceReady running shirt in the size they specify. These puppies are slick. We will have awards for top three M/F Overall, M/F Masters, and some age group prizes. We are rounding up some good stuff to raffle off at the finish as well.
