Brief Description

Marathon & 1/2 start at 7am. on M St. Out and back flat and fast finish on M St. Course will be open 7 hours, allowing adequate time for first-time marathoners. (Boston Qualifier). Walkers and first timers are especially encouraged to participate in the 13.1 mile event. 5k: Loop begins at 7:20a.m. starting on M St. Same course as Marathon. Runners will then turn on to the Virginia Corridor winding back to M St. to the finish. Go to: www.modestomarathon.com

Registration Fees, Register early!

$65 Full Marathon, $75 after Feb. 28. $45 Half Marathon, $55 after Feb. 28 & $20 5k, $25 after Feb. 28. Pre-register early: Inaugural sweatshirts given to the first 50 1/2 Marathon entries and 50 Marathon entries. Technical T-shirts guaranteed to everyone registering before March 12, 2010.

Packet Pickup & Expo

Avoid last minute confusion by picking up your race packet on Saturday! Pre-race registration and packet pick up will be at the Host DoubleTree Hotel and Convention Center. Center Plaza 1150 Ninth St., Modesto, Ca., 95354. On Saturday March 20, 2010 from noon to 6p.m. No race day registration for Marathon or 1/2 Marathon. 5k registration & packet pick up for Marathon & Half Marathon on race day will be on the corner of 11th and L St. at the MVE parking lot from 6a.m. to 7a.m.

Directions

From the North: Take CA- 99 South toward Modesto/Fresno. Take the 132 /Maze Blvd exit toward CA-108. Turn left on CA-132/L St. Continue down L St. to the Hotel. From the South: Take CA-99 North towards Modesto. Take exit CA-132/Central Modesto. Turn slight left onto 6th St. Turn right onto L St. Continue on L St. to Hotel.

Parking

$1 per hour between the hours 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. $5 per vehicle between the hours of 6 p.m. & 6 a.m. Modesto Center Plaza Parking: On corner of 11th & L, entrance on L St. City of Modesto parking: on the corner of 11th and K, entrance on K. Another garage on 9th St, entrance on 9th St. R.V. Parking on 11th and L St., entrance on L St. $20 per day , Bus $30 per day

Pasta Dinner & Guest Speaker Jose Hernandez

A pre-race pasta feed will be held at the Modesto Convention Center, 1150 Ninth St., Modesto, Calif., on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 6 p.m. Guest speaker Astornaut Jose Hernaandez will be featured at the buffet style pasta dinner. $25 per person. Enter the race registration page and register for the dinner there or go to www.modestomarathon.com to download a flier and mail in your reservations. Dead line: March 15th for reservations.

Aid Stations

Water and electrolyte drinks approximately every 2 miles along the course. First aid at every aid station. Port-a-Potties at Start/ Finish lines approximately mile 6, 12 , 15 1/2 , 21 1/2

Awards

Finisher medals to all 1/2 Marathon and Marathon finishers. Age division awards: 1/2 Marathon & Marathon Awards will be given to the top 3 males and females in each age division. 19-under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ Age division awards: 5k Awards will be given to the top 3 males and females in each age division. 8-under 9-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

Athena & Clydesdale Division

Awards to the top 3 in each division. Female weight 160+, Male Weight 200+, Weigh in and check in at Expo on Saturday.

Mission Statement

The Modesto Marathon was founded to serve the local community by providing top-notch marathon, half marathon and 5K running events while promoting physical fitness and a healthy life-style. Proceeds will benefit the Teens Run Modesto program, which challenges area youth, especially those at-risk, to experience the benefits of goal-setting, character development, adult mentoring and improved physical fitness through a structured training program and completing the Modesto Marathon.

Teens Run Modesto

"At risk’ students are the program’s target group, we encourage all students regardless of ethnicity or socioeconomic status to participate in the benefits of completing the program. No cost to student. ShadowChase Running Club is using the successful Students Run LA program as a guide. We believe we can repeat these success stories in Modesto.
