Brief Description

The Autism 5K

The 2011 Autism 5K Run / Walk to support families affected by Autism - May 21st at Lake Calhoun. The event is open to all.

Who the 5K is for

1) For Serious Runners: This is a certified course around Lake Calhoun, a great 5K course. Plaques will be awarded to winners in each age category (Male and Female) w/prizes for overall winners.

2) For Not-so-Serious Runners: Enjoy a run around beautiful Lake Calhoun on a Spring morning.

3) Walkers & Families: The Autism 5K draws tons of families and individuals who walk for the cause. Approximately 1000 walkers participated in 2010!

T-Shirts

T-shirts available in adult and kids sizes in 2011 for those who register for the t-shirt option.

The 2011 T-shirt will feature a beautiful custom print by local artist Michael Birawer.

2011 Autism 5K race proceeds will benefit local families affected by autism as well as research and is to be distributed through the nonprofit which runs this event, Children with Autism Deserve Education (C.A.D.E.) via grants.

Additional Information

This is our third annual Autism 5K. Last year we had close to 2,000 participants with a great mix of runners and walkers and many groups. We are looking forward to another great 5K around beautiful Lake Calhoun.

Artwork and T-Shirts

This year's t-shirt will feature custom artwork by the talented local artist Michael Birawer. This piece, commemorating our first year's event (held at Lake Harriet that year), was created specifically for 2011 and it’s use graciously donated to our event by Mr. Birawer.

Packet Pickup
---------------------------
For the first time Pre-Race Day Packet pickup will be available at:
Marathon Sports, 2312 West 50th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55410 on

Thursday, May 19th from 5pm-8pm and
Friday May 20th from 10am-6pm.
Race Day Pickup available as well being at 7:30am.

Kids, Strollers, Dogs??
---------------------------
Kids are more than welcome and not required to register, but definitely can if they'd like a race shirt and/or have their time recorded. Strollers and Dogs are fine for walkers, but please line up towards the back rather than towards the front with the runners.
