Brief Description

On June 9, 2011, Investigator Warren “SNEAK” Lewis, 38, along with members of the United States Marshals Service, went to a residence in Kinston to serve a warrant. They were conducting a search of the residence when Investigator Lewis was shot and killed. Investigator Lewis had served with the Nash County Sheriff's Office for nine years and was a sworn Deputy United States Marshal. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and parents. This race will be held in his honor.

Starting Times

The races will start and finish at the Middlesex Fire Station located at 13081 West Hanes Avenue in Middlesex. The 5K will begin at 8:30 am followed by the start of the mile at 9:30. The SNEAK Kid Dash will begin at 10:00 am.

Awards

In the 5K awards will be given to the top three males overall, to the top three females overall, to the top three law enforcement/emergency service runners of each sex and to the top three finishers in each of the following age groups: (both sexes) 15-under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70-over. In the mile and the Kid Dash (ages 10 and under) each finisher will receive a medal.

Entry Fees/T-shirts

The entry fees for the 5K are $25, if received NLT August 20, and $35, thereafter, up to and including race day. For the mile the fee is $15, and the fee for the Kid Dash is $5. There are no late fees for those two races. The fees for the 5K and mile include a t-shirt to the first 400 entrants.

Late Registration/Packet Pickup

Late entrants can register and pre-registered entrants can pick up their packets on Friday, September 7th from 5-7 pm at the Middlesex Elementary School (13081 West Hanes Avenue in Middlesex) or on race day at the Middlesex Fire Station beginning at 7 am.

Other activities

The event will also feature other family fun activities, health stations, live music and corn hole boards.

Race Benefits...

Proceeds from the race will go to the Warren “SNEAK” Lewis Law Enforcement Foundation. The foundation has two main objectives, to provide yearly scholarships to local high school students and to assist law enforcement officers and their families across the state in times of need as voted on by the foundation's Board of Directors.
