Please bring e-mail confirmation of your registration or a photo id
when picking up your packet. If picking up for a friend, please be sure
to have a note of permission.
Course:
10K Trail Race:
The course begins on paved roads and groomed trails in the lush
valley and then proceed to the top of the hill overlooking the scenic
Western Town below. It will then proceed primarily through wooded trails
(with some moderate to steep up and down grades), up River Valley
Ranch's infamous Dead Man's Hill, gradually descending to the Gunpowder
River where racers will have the option to
cross through the river or dry on walkboards and proceed on flat terrain
to the finish line. Trails will range from groomed to open field to
semi-rocky terrain.
Because of the challenging nature of this beautiful course, we regret NO baby joggers, strollers or pets allowed.
5K Race:
The race will begin in the woods of the lush valley of River Valley
Ranch on a groomed trail. It will then proceed for several miles on
paved country roads. The race will
finish right through our authentic 19th century western town, crossing
the Gunpowder Falls river on our covered bridge to the finish line.
Baby joggers, wagons and strollers are welcome, as long as you start
at the back and are respectful to other participants. No pets please.
Starting Corrals: As a way to reduce congestion at the start,
all participants will be organized in corrals based on your estimated
per mile running time. At the starting line, look for the corrals with
the minute/mile numbers on them and stand between your appropriate
times.
Amenities: free re-useable bag (pictured below, limited to the
first 900 registrants); Under Armour
Tech shirt for additional $10 ($15 for Kids Run Shirt) before July 29
(after July 29, price will increase to $20); chip timing to be picked up on
race day, must be returned at the conclusion of the
race; kids' corral, childcare drop-off for running parents (ages 2 and
older)
Awards: Medals will be awarded to the top male and female
runner overall, as well as the top male and female in the following age
groups: 15 and under; 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and older.
Random drawings for prizes such as an iPod shuffle, Timex Ironman
watches, Under
Armour long-sleeve T-shirts, free weeks of summer camp at River Valley
Ranch and more.
Kids Fun Run: Don't miss the fun at the 1-mile Kids Fun Run. Kids will receive a shirt and bib number for the race.
Post-Race: Be sure to stay for the post-race ceremony to
announce award winners. A continental breakfast buffet, including fresh
fruit, yogurt, bagels, Chick-fil-a chicken biscuits and more will be
available also.
Team Challenge:
Recruit some friends, family, neighbors or co-workers to be a part of
the River Valley Run Team Challenge. The team with the largest number of
registered participants and the team raising the most money in pledges
wins the grand prize of a River Valley Ranch Adventure experience. All
members of the winning team will win a day
trip to the Ranch where you can participate in an exciting adventure
activity. Choose from one of the following: 1700' triple zip line (the
longest on the east coast), 30' high giant swing, paintball games or an
hour-long horseback ride along with a delicious meal for your entire
group. Be sure to have everyone put the name of your team on the
registration form.
Pledges:
Participants in the River Valley Run have the opportunity to raise
additional donations to support the programs of RVR. All pledge
collectors who raise more than $100 will receive a River Valley Run
Under Armour tech T-shirt. Raise more than $500 and receive an iPod
Shuffle as well. The top pledge collector will receive an Apple iPad 3.
