Brief Description

The Annual Walk for Babies is organized to raise awareness of safe sleep environments and awareness of SIDS in Missisisppi. The proceeds from this event will go to the MS SIDS Alliance to provide cribs for infants in Mississippi who are in need of a safe place to sleep. In additon to preventative services, bereavement services are also provided by MS SIDS Alliance staff for parents who have lost an infant due to any cause

Additional Information

According to the CDC Prevention Services, Babies born in Mississippi are less likely to reach their first birthday than in any other state. An overwhelming cause of this infant death is due to unsafe sleeping environments such as co-sleeping with adults or other children. By providing information for new parents and having a proactive approach to safe sleep for infants, the MS SIDS Alliance hopes to help reduce the infant mortality rate in Mississippi. Many incidinces of suffocation and asphyxia are 100% preventable. The MS SIDS Alliance has been in existence and providing services for 14 years in the state of Mississippi. It is a non-profit 501C3 organization
