What's happening?

Come join us at the Race 4 Rett, presented by Youth Fitness Consultants, Inc. We will run/walk or stroll through Lyons, IL. There will be light refreshments after the race.

When do we start?

Youth mile begins at 8:30 am and the 5K starts at 9am. The 100 yard dash will begin approximately at 10am.

Who is the Charity?

Proceeds from this event will be donated to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation http://rettsyndrome.org

What is Rett?

Rett syndrome is a unique developmental disorder that is first recognized in infancy and seen almost always in girls, but can be rarely seen in boys. Rett Syndrome is a genetic disorder that is caused by mutations on the X chromosome on a gene called MECP2.

What does Rett do?

Rett causes problems in brain function that are responsible for cognitive, sensory, emotional, motor and autonomic function. These can include learning, speech, sensory sensations, mood, movement, breathing, cardiac function, and even chewing, swallowing, and digestion. Rett syndrome strikes all racial and ethnic groups, and occurs worldwide in 1 of every 10,000 to 23,000 female births.

Swag

T-shirts and goodie bags are guaranteed for all paid racers that have registered by April 25th.

100 Yard Dash

The 100 Yard dash is Free for all children under 6 but they will only recieve a t-shirt if they sign up for a paid event. All children must register and will receive a goodie bag at the event.

Packet Pickup

Packet Pickup will be held at The Runner's Soul located at 5 South La Grange Road, La Grange, IL. May 4 from 10am - 8pm and May 5th from 10am - 4pm. You may also pick up packets beginning at 8am on race day!

Awards

Male and Female overall awards will be given for the 5K and youth mile. All children participating in the 100 Yard dash will receive a medal and a goodie bag.

Race Day Registration

Online registration closes May 1st. Race day registration begins at 8am and will be $35 for the 5K and $15 for the Youth Mile

Where do we start?

We will start at Smith Park in Lyons IL located at 42nd street and Lawndale Avenue.

Parking

Please arrive early as parking is limited. Lawndale Avenue will be closed at 8am. Additional parking will be available at George Washington Middle School parking lot located at 40th and Leland Ave.
