Brief Description

The Triathlon, 5K & 10K, & 1K courses are located on the Joint Forces Training Base runways. Helicopters, planes and military vehicles will line portions of the course with music throughout the course. Separate 100% flat courses. Run next to strawberry fields and 3 golf courses.

Triathlon

The Reverse Triathlon is a sprint distance triathlon which consists of a 3.7 mile run, 13.1 mile bike and 200 meter pool swim. If you've always wanted to race a triathlon but the open water swim has kept you out then this is your event.

Tri on the Base $70 early, $80 regular, $95 late (Relay) Tri on the Base $115 early, $130 regular, $145 late

Triathlon Info

Due to the popularity of the event, a second wave has been added with start times depending on age group or category (see event schedule). Special optional categories include Athena (Women 150 lbs.+), Clydesdale (Men 200 lbs.+) and Challenged Athletes Division with event start at the 2nd wave. All Triathlon participants must attend the mandatory meeting prior to event wave start. Triathlon participants should bring their own swim cap. Minimum age limit for the Reverse Triathlon is 12 years old.

Youth with strong triathlete skills are encouraged to participate in the 10:00 a.m. Reverse Triathlon Wave and be eligible for age division awards.

Additional Events

This site is only for Tri on the Base registration and Jr. Triathlon registration. If you want to register for any of the Race on the Base runs you need to go to the Active.com site for the 5K/10K Runs, 5K Walk, 1K Kids Run, and 10K In-line Skate/Wheelchair race. Awards

All participants will receive a dog tag finisher's medal. Top three (3) male and female finishers will receive a medal. Division Awards given 3 deep in each category. Age groups for Triathlon 12-14; 15-18; 19-24; 25-29; 30-34 and 5 year age groups up to 85+ Relay Teams Divisions for Triathlon All Male, All Female and Mixed Teams

*All Junior Reverse Triathlon events are non-competitive

Triathlon and Jr. Triathlon Finishers will receive a finisher medal

Proceeds

Proceeds from this event will benefit the USA Water Polo National Training Center. Proceeds from the 5K Walk will benefit the Cancer Support Foundation.

The Triathlon is expected to fill up prior to event weekend.

Parking Directions

NO I.D. = NO ENTRY
Free parking is available for all participants and spectators on the Joint Forces Training Base. Please arrive at least 1 hour prior to your race in order to enter the Base, park and register. In order to enter the Base, all adults must have a Driver’s License, Identification Card or Passport IN THEIR HAND to show military personnel. ENTRANCES THROUGH ORANGEWOOD AVENUE off of Los Alamitos Blvd. and LEXINGTON off of Katella. No pets allowed.

Packet Pick Up & USAT Licenses

All triathletes and Jr. triathletes MUST have either a USAT annual license or a 1-day license. Purchase annual licenses at www.usatriathlon.org; purchase a 1-day license online at www.active.com ($12 adult/ $10 kids) with registration or on race day. Triathletes will be required to show their annual license with picture ID, or proof of 1-day license, and sign the USAT waiver on race day. Others may not pick up your packet for you.

Sanctioning

USA Triathlon is the national governing body for the sports of triathlon, duathlon, winter triathlon and aquathlon in the United States. Participation in a USAT sanctioned event means the event director has the proper permits in place, liability and athlete excess medical insurance coverage and the event plan has met the standard of organization required. USA Triathlon provides rules, guidance and governance to set the standard for safe and fair multi-sport races.
