As the name implies, this is a new event in Eastern North Carolina, which is put on by the Ernest Simmons VFW Post 6722 in Lillington. The race starts and finishes at the Harnett County Veteran’s Park located outside the Courthouse at 301 West Cornelius Harnett Boulevard. The USATF certified course will be a mixture of trails and asphalt and is described as “relatively flat.”
Race day registration and packet pickup opens at 7:30 am on race day, and the race starts at 9 am.
The entry fee is $20, increasing to $25 after October 26th up to and including race day. T-shirts are guaranteed to all those registered by October 26.
Awards will be presented to the top three male finishers, to the top three female finishers, and to the top three finishers (both sexes) in each of the following age divisions: 19-under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-over.
Proceeds from the race will benefit the local Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 74 and the VFW Home for Children
