Brief Description

The First Bank Oktoberfest 15K & 5K at Brunswick Forest is a precisely measured course that takes you through a beautiful planned community on paved running trails, across wooden bridges and boardwalks and on wide, smooth sidewalks. The 15K Walk starts 45 minutes before the run. The race is a great tune up for the Battleship NC Half Marathon and 5K held on November 4th in Wilmington, NC

Directions

Go to www.brunswickforest.com and click on the "Location" tab. Brunswick Forest is 6 miles south of Wilmington, NC just off of Highway 17 south. While you're on the Brunswick Forest site check out the master plan and amenities for more information about the community and race site.

General Race Information

Entry fees are $35 for the 15K and $25 for the 5K until September 14th. After September 14th late fee increases to $40 and $30 respectively, then $45 and $35 on Race Day. The first 300 entrants will receive tech shirts and everyone else will receive shirts while supplies last. There will be free beer and good chow after the race as well as drawings for gifts from local sporting goods stores in a picturesque setting.

15K Walk

The 15K Walk starts at 7:15 AM and covers the exact same course as the 15K run. Walker time limit is three (3) hours which equates to slightly over a 19 minute per mile pace.

Packet Pickup October 13th and on Race Day

Pick up your race packets on Saturday before the race at www.TrySports.com in Mayfaire from noon until 2:00 pm and at Brunswick Forest in the Fitness Center from 3:30 until 5:00 PM. Race Day packet pickup is at the race site 6:15 until 7:30 am.

Race Beneficiary

The race benefits the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center's Closer to Home Campaign to build a Hospice facility in Brunswick County. http://www.hospiceandlifecarecenter.org/

Race Timing

Timing will be done using the ChronoTag timing system provided by Brunswick Timing Services. Timing Tags are attached to your race number and remain there. They do not have to be returned after the race. Race Numbers MUST be worn on the front of the body.

The race features 3-deep awards in 5 year age groups with Open and Masters winner categories. The awards will be presented in a beautiful outside setting at the Community Commons area or in the state of the art Fitness Center at Brunswick Forest. The first 300 entrants receive tech shirts. There will be good post-race chow, free beer, and prize giveaways for all race entrants. The course is picturesque and crosses wooden bridges and an elevated boardwalk through a nature area, and is flat and fast.
