Race with a Friend! Individuals or 2-person teams can compete!

What is the Loudoun Free Clinic?

A non-profit agency, the Loudoun Free Clinic provides free health care services to low-income, uninsured residents of Loudoun County. We are 100% supported by the community through funding received from corporate sponsorships, state and local government agencies, grants, and individuals. Most of the health care and patient administration services we provide are generously donated by members of the local medical community and individual volunteers.

What is a Duathlon?

A duathlon is a sports competition in which athletes compete in two skills. The Loudoun Free Clinic Charity Race is a 450-yard swim followed by a 5K run. Participants can race as individuals or in two-person teams (one swimmer, one runner).

450-Yard Swim

The swim is an in-water, time trial start with swimmers going off every 15 seconds. The pool is indoors. Flip turns are allowed; however your push from the wall has to take you under the lane.

Transition Area

The transition area is located just outside the pool in a fenced area. Only racers will be allowed in this area.

5K Run

The run course goes around the perimeter of Ida Lee Park and is primarily cross-country on grass with short distances on pavement. The course is mainly flat with no major hills. Trail shoes are recommended.

Timing

The race is a chip-timed event. Participants receive chips at registration the morning of the race. Times are recorded when participants cross mats after the swim, leave the transition area, and at the finish line. Split times are given for your swim, T1, run, and overall time.

Awards

Awards will be given to top overall male and female racers. Awards also given to top finisher in each 5-year age group. All participants paying full race registration fee receive a T-shirt and tote bag.

Race Day Age

Participants race as the age they turn this year. For example, if your birthday is on Dec 31, 2010 and you will turn 40 on this date, then you will race in the 40-44 year age group.

Post-Race Celebration

Bring your family and friends to cheer you on and join the festivities at the post-race party! Enjoy live entertainment, food and drinks, and local businesses featuring healthy products and services!
