Brief Description

The Turquoise Lake Half Marathon offers unparalleled mountain views as you run clockwise around scenic Turquoise Lake. The first 7.5 miles of the course consists of hilly paved road. The final 5.5 miles consist of single track dirt trail.

Pre-Register at Melanzana, 716 Harrison Avenue in Leadville: $30; Race Day Registration: $40.

Awards

An award will be given to the top male and female finishers in each of the following age groups: 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Overall male and female finishers of the event will receive a gift from Melanzana. Stick around for the post-race raffle.

All proceeds benefit the Leadville-Lake County Sports Hall of Fame, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Directions

From Harrison Ave., take 6th Street west until you get to a "T" (approx. 1 mile). Turn right on to County Road 4. Follow County Road 4 until you reach a three-prong fork located adjacent to Suger Loafin' Campground/RV Park (approx. 2.5 miles). Take the far right road, which is the continuation of County Road 4, to Turquoise Lake. Take the first road to the right (as if you were going to drive counter clockwise around Turquoise Lake), and follow the signs to the Matchless Boat Ramp.

Venue

This event utilizes National Forest lands and County Roads. A special use permit has been issued by the US Forest Service's Leadville Ranger District and permission has been granted by the Lake County Commissioners.

Do the Fish Hatchery 5K for FREE!

Don't miss the Fish Hatchery 5K on June 3, 2012. Located at the historic Leadville National Fish Hatchery, the event features a scenic cross country style course that winds through subalpine forest near and around the Evergreen Lakes and lower Rock Creek area. The route consists of dirt road, path and trail. INDIVIDUALS PRE-REGISTERED FOR THE TURQUOISE LAKE HALF MARATHON PARTICIPATE FOR FREE.
