Support GaDuGi SafeCenter with our first annual USATF Certified 1/2 Marathon the Rev it Up Run. Also join us for Rev it Up Car Show after the run. All proceeds benefit GaDuGi SafeCenter, working together with the community to end sexual violence. Funds raised through the run and car for GaDuGi SafeCenter will ensure that EVERY CALL IS ANSWERED, and that they are able to continue provide FREE and confidential services to survivors of sexual assault.
Local runners will have the chance to rev it up for a new Lawrence race that mixes philanthropy and rich local history.
Wednesday Sept 29th from 10am - 5pm at GaDuGi SafeCenter (2518 Ridge Court). Thursday Sept 30th from 4pm - 7pm at Garry Gribble's Running Sports (839 Mass st). Friday Oct 1st from 3pm - 7pm at Garry Gribble's Running Sports (839 Mass st.)
Parking for event will be at South Junior High School, located next to Broken Arrow Park. Registration begins at 7am. Race will be supported from 8am-Noon (18:18 per mile, 11:22 per km).
The course winds through gentle, rolling hills in a scenic section of Douglas County that includes the spot where the Oregon Trail crossed the Wakarusa River. Runners will also get to experience the beauty of the Baker Wetlands up close, see much of the campus of Haskell Indian Nations University, and finish at Broken Arrow Park. Water stations will be approx. every 1.5 miles. Aid Stations will be approx. every 3 miles. No strollers or dogs please.
They can park at the churches across from Broken Arrow park or at South Junior High School. The best cheering areas are located at Haskell Indian Nations University, along the Naismith Valley Trail, and at Broken Arrow Park for the finish.
Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female winners as well as the top three male and female winners for each age category.
Results will be posted immediately following the race at the park shelter. They will be posted online and with local media the week following the event.
19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 39-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 and up.
Tech shirts. Registration due by Sept 20, 2010 to ensure that you will receive race day shirt.
GaDuGi SafeCenter, inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Lawrence. The agency benefits the community by providing 24-hour comprehensive advocacy and support services for child and adult victim-survivors of sexual violence, their families, friends and partners by staff and volunteer advocates. We also provide individual and group therapy, prevention & education programming, as well as community awareness events on all topics related to sexual violence.

Following the 1/2 marathon on Oct 2nd GaDuGi SafeCenter will be continuing the day with Rev It Up fundraiser. This hot rod Show and music fest titled “Rev It Up Hot Rod Hullabaloo!” will be featuring cars, bikes, live music,vendors and food. It is fun for the whole family.
