Brief Description

STARTS at the Olympic Skating Oval on Main street in Lake Placid and FINISHES at the North Elba Show Grounds. Scenic run through downtown Lake Placid. By the Olympic Ski Jumps, then a down & back along a peaceful and flat river. Uphill finish at the Lake Placid Horse SHow Grounds.

Details

The “Original” Lake Placid Half Marathon will be run on September 08, 2012 on a new course, 9:00 AM start. This year’s start will be at the Olympic Speed Skating Oval, and will end at the North Elba Show Grounds. This year’s race is sponsored by: Adirondack Health/Medical Center, The Village of Lake Placid, Town of North Elba, Olympic Regional Development Authority, Regional Office Of Sustainable Tourism.

Course

Starting at the Sheffield Olympic Skating Oval, proceeds up Main Street through the center of Lake Placid, around Mirror Lake, then turning east on to Parkside Drive. The runners will then proceed to the traffic signal at the intersection of routes 86 and 73. From there, the course follows Route 73 passing the Olympic Ski Jumps to Riverside Drive, Riverside Drive is a flat, riverside run proceeding on an out & back route, returning to Route 73, finishing at the North Elba Horseshow grounds.

Awards

Awards will be offered to the top 3 in each age group, both male and female. ALL participant receive a finishers medal.

Transportation

Because the race finishes in a different location than the start, limited transportation will be available for registered runners. There will be transportation of bags from Start to Finish.

Packet Pick-up

Race packets may be picked up at the Skating Oval (Starting area) on Friday, 9/07/12: 4 pm - 8 pm & Saturday, 9/08/12: 6 am - 8 am. Phone During Packet Pick Up 518-637-7993

T-Shirts & Post Race

T-shirts: All entrants registered by 9/1/12 are guaranteed an official Half Marathon t-shirt. Please make sure to indicate your size on your entry form. WE CANNOT GUARANTEE t-shirts to late registrants. Post Race: Come join the post-race fun with a BBQ, refreshments, music and award ceremony at the finish area (Show Grounds).
