Brief Description

The CajunMan Triathlon: This race is a tradition, a right of passage, for all endurance fiends! 1/2 mile of swimming in Airport Lake, 20 miles of pedaling on the roads of Lafayette Parish, and 3.1 miles on foot through the grounds of the Lafayette Regional Airport. Whether a beginner doing their first open water triathlon or an experienced triathlete looking for one of the best races on the Gulf Coast, this is the event!!

Louisiana Endurance Series

CajunMan is now part of the Louisiana Endurance Series. You can now register for 5 great races at once! Save money and participate in the series of races to earn points and awards! For more details and to register, please go to: http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=2009300

Race Limits

The field is limited to 500, including relay teams (male, female, and coed). There will be wave starts. Wave starts will be determined prior to the race date, posted on the race web site, emailed to participants, and provided at packet pick up.

Relay Teams

Don't want to do the whole race? Come race as a team! Relay teams categories are all female, all male, or coed. Each team member will compete in one of the individual sports. Relay teams must have a minimum of 2 participants. (Yes, one team member can do 2 sports while the other team member does the other sport.)

Individual Entry Fees

Individual: Through May 27, $70; May 28 – August 8, $80; August 9-September 7, $90; September 8, $100 (printed form only on September 8 and assuming slots remain)

Relay Entry Fees

Relays: (per team) Through May 27, $130; May 28 – August 8, $145; August 9-September 7, $160; September 8, $175 (printed form only on September 8 and assuming slots remain)

Please register before August 19, 2012 to insure that you'll get the size race shirt that you want. We cannot guarantee availability and/or size after that date!

USA Triathlon Sanctioned Race

This race is being sanctioned with USAT. You, including all relay team members, must be a licensed USA Triathlon member at the time of registration or buy a one-day license to participate for $12.00. For more information on USA Triathlon and to join, see www.usatriathlon.org or call 719/597-9090. USAT rules shall be enforced. You are responsible for knowing the USAT race rules.

Refunds & Race Delays

There are no refunds. The race will take place rain or shine BUT the race director reserves the right to modify the course or change the start time of the race for the safety of the participants.

Packet Pick-Up & Race Day Registration

Packet pick-up will be held at the Smoothie Factory, Lafayette, LA, on Saturday., September 8, 2012 from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. On race day packets will be available from 6:00 a.m. - 7:00 a.m. at the race site. There will be limited registration at the Saturday packet pick up assuming registration is still open. Registration is also available at Fleet Feet, 6251 Perkins Road, Suite C, Baton Rouge, LA 70808 through September 8, 2012 or as long as registration remains open.

Directions to the race site

From I-10: Take exit 103A to merge onto I-49 S/US-167 S toward US-90/Morgan City; continue onto US-167 S for 2.5 mi; continue onto US-90 E for 2.6 mi then turn left onto Perimeter Rd. Use 2503 Southeast Evangeline Trwy, Lafayette, LA 70508 for GPS or web search directions.

The SWIM -- 1/2 mile

This is an open water swim. Water temperatures will most likely be in the mid-70F range. Use of wet suits is subject to USA Triathlon rules. The wetsuit call will be made after temperatures are taken race morning. Bring your wetsuit if you are so inclined. There will be boats and other water safety aid available during the swim. You should be able to swim at least ½ mile before deciding to enter this event. All swimmers will be required to wear swim caps, which will be provided.

THE BIKE -- 20 miles

This is an out and back course. The course is flat. The roads are paved and, under Louisiana standards, have reasonably good surfaces. There are some potholes and areas that we will mark to call your attention to them but you are required to keep your attention to your ride and your surroundings. All turns will be marked. Volunteers will be on the course but you are to stay aware of the surroundings and to know the course!

THE RUN -- 5K (3.1 miles)

The run will start and finish near the transition area near Airport Lake. The course will include the roads within the Lafayette Regional Airport. The course will be marked and volunteers will be on the course. There will be at least 2 possibilities to pass an aid station on the run. The aid stations will offer water, fluid replacement drinks, and encouragement.

AWARDS

Finisher’s awards will be given to all completing the race. The top overall male and female, master’s male and female, and grandmaster male and female winners will receive awards. Awards will also be given to the top 3 male and female triathletes in 14 and under age group and 5 year age groups from 15-70+. Awards will be given to the top 2 male, female, and coed relay teams

Post Race Party and Awards Ceremony

Be sure to hang around and enjoy a post race party and the City of Lafayette following the race. The awards ceremony will be held as soon as possible following the race. Unclaimed awards will not be mailed.
