ADA Accommodation Policy & Procedures
All USATF sanctioned events are required to comply with the "Policy & Procedures for Accommodation Requests Pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act", available on the USATF website.
In summary, the policy requires sanctioned events to include a "check-off" box or line for an individual entering an able-bodied (i.e., regular) competition to indicate his or her desire to request an accommodation of a disability. NOTE: This policy does not apply to disabled competitions or disabled divisions of a competition.
In addition, please note that the ADA accommodation procedures are handled by USATF, after the information is forwarded by the event/race director. Event and race directors must, therefore, review entry forms and refer any person who has entered the able-bodied/regular competition and requested an accommodation to the USATF Legal Department at 317-713-4668 or 317-713-4683.
All requests for accommodations must be received six weeks prior to the date of competition.
It generally takes six weeks from the receipt of all relevant documentation to evaluate such requests.
This section does not apply to athletes competing in the wheelchair or disabled division of the race/event.
No such requests will be granted if the necessary documentation has not been sent to USATF at least six weeks prior to the date of the competition.
