As a result the Richard M. Brodsky Foundation now sends shoes to Kenya. Running shoes are like GOLD in Kenya. Bring along an extra pair of shoes and a few dollars as well to give to orphans. Join us after the Marathon, Half-Marathon & 5K Children's Walk for an afternoon of entertainment in Jomo Kenyatta Sports Stadium.

WELCOME

Welcome to the 2010 Kisumu World AIDS Marathon. We're not just any marathon; we're running to raise awareness that AIDS sufferers all over the world must have access to the AIDS medication. We run so we can collectively channel our energy to say, "STOP AIDS NOW!" With one voice we can speak for the 14,000,000 orphans in sub-Saharan Africa who have lost one or both parents due to AIDS. We'll not sit idle while 5,480 people die from AIDS each day & 7,397 people are diagnosed with HIV each day.

Global Fundraising

We are losing the battle against AIDS

WAM focuses on the millions of orphans living in sub-Saharan Africa who have the right to be raised in a loving home giving them clean drinking water, nutritious food & free education through high school. Treatment for HIV+ adults can prevent more kids from becoming orphans. For each HIV+ person beginning AIDS medicine, there will be three newly infected HIV+ people. Let’s expand delivery of HIV prevention & get AIDS medicine out to all AIDS sufferers.

Stop Cancer Now, save your life, others too

'I'll stop smoking when I'm ready to stop.' Sound familiar. If you stopped smoking now and saved the $15 - $35 weekly, you could contribute that amount weekly for an orphan dinner dance in Kenya, or for $4 per child you can sponsor a child for an orphan dinner dance.

...

Simply set up a fundraising page, click below, and watch your friends and family contribute towards your Stop Smoking Now campaign. $500 will co-sponsor an orphan dinner dance; $1,000 will fully sponsor the Event. Additional Information

Thank You:

The $120 fee will entitle the first 100 runners who sign up to have dinner at REACH-OUT ORPHANS SUPPORT CENTRE the evening before the December 1st, World AIDS Day Marathon. Hezekiah Nyaranga cares for the orphans as if they were their own and provides medical care and education for the orphans. The festivities at ‘REACH-OUT’ will begin at 3 PM and end at 6 PM.

Your $120 Entry Fee will also entitle you to another late afternoon dinner dance at HOPE INITIATIVE. Rispah Ochola is the Program Coordinator and she struggles to provide meals and education for the orphans. Hope Initiative is located in Kendu Bay, the paternal home of President Obama's great-grandfather, a place our President traveled to, to visit his relatives.

The Nov. 30 dinner is approximately 45 minutes from Jomo Kenyatta Sports Stadium (JKSS) and the Nov. 29 dinner is approximately 90 minutes from JKSS. Round trip transportation will be provided from the Duke of Breeze Hotel in Kisumu leaving at 1:15 PM on November 29 and 2:15 PM on November 30. You will have the pleasure of dining and dancing with a minimum of 300 orphans and being entertained by them as well.

Prize money will be $1,000 minimum. This is clearly not a race to run if prize money is your goal. The prize is raising awareness about the plight of AIDS sufferers and the orphans of Africa. The marathon and half marathon running fees for Kenyan runners is 50 shillings, about 75 cents, and can be paid on-site the morning of the marathon. Please arrive by 5 AM. Alternately there will be a few facilities for Kenyans to sign up in advance, locations to be determined.
