Brief Description

Join us on January 21, 2013 to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King's Birthday and help bring diversity to the Historic 18th & Vine District. This area served as a key part of Kansas City during the Civil Rights Movement.

Dream 5K Entry Fees & Deadlines

Dream 5K (includes T-shirt) $25 before January 1st $30 from Jan 1 - Jan 20 $35 on Race Day (Jan 21) *Participants 18 & under Save $5

Freedom March Entry Fee

Free Will Donation, $15 or more will get you a T-shirt. The Freedom March starts at 10:00 AM at Parade Park behind the Negro League Baseball Museum.

Freedom March Organization Fee

$250 for each organization who would like to participate. There is no limit on participants. T-shirts are not included in this category but are for sale for $15. Organizations are encouraged to join us for the Freedom March. Make signs celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King's Birthday and carry them as your Group Marches together through Parade Park behind the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

Free Kids Run

All Kids 10 and under are invited to participate in our Free Kids Run at 9:40 AM.

Race Courses

9:00 AM - The Dream 5K Starts on Paseo heading South for 1.5 Miles where it turns around and finishes at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum on 18th Street. 9:40 AM - The Kids Run Starts and Finishes in front of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. 10:00 AM - The Freedom March Starts and Finishes behind the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Parade Park.

Pre-Race Packet Pick up

Participants may register and/or pick up their race packets on Sunday, January 20th from Noon to 6 PM at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, 1616 East 18th Street, Kansas City, MO.

Race Day Registration & Packet Pick up

Participants may register and pick up their packets on Race Day at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum starting at 7:30 AM.

Dream 5K Awards

Awards will be presented to the Overall Male and Female Finishers and the Top 3 Male and Female Finishers in the following age groups: 8 & under, 9-13, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over

Results will be posted online at www.runkansascity.com

Additional Information

The Dream 5K & Freedom March benefit the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and the 18th & Vine District. The Negro Baseball League Players helped break the "Color Barrier" through sport. The 18th & Vine District was given it's re-birth thanks to the late Kansas City legend and Negro League Star Buck O'Neal.
