Event Description:
The Wilderness Run is a challenging cross-country run that will take place in and around the natural settings of the museum. Runners will run through the village, around fields, up and down hills, over and under logs, in and out of the woods, crossing creeks, and more! Awards categories will be given to the top finishers in each age category as well as top overall male & female. Age categories are broken down into 5year age groups.
Directions & Parking:
The location is just N of the MO-152 & N SHOAL CREEK PKWY intersection (between I-35 & I-435, 2 miles West of Liberty, MO.) From the main intersection (traffic lights) continue N on N SHOAL CREEK PKWY <0.1 miles & take the FIRST LEFT onto NE BARRY RD. Continue W 0.8 miles. Turn RIGHT at the entrance. A large parking lot is located on the right & smaller lots are located to the left at the top of the hill. After parking, walk to the main gated entrance at the top of the hill.
About the Museum:
The Shoal Creek Living History Museum makes up a village with over 20 authentic building from the 1800's and located among the 80 acres of beautiful rolling hills in KC's Hodge Park. The museum will come alive the day of the run, as many volunteers will be portraying the lifestyle of the 19th Centrury! You might even get to see the blacksmith or feed the buffalo!
Awards & Prizes:
Awards to the top overall male & female finisher. Individual place medals are awarded to the top 3 finishers in each age category. Drawings for additional gift certificates and prizes from area businesses will take place during the awards.
Packet Pick-up:
Packet pick-up is highly encouraged & will be available at Kansas City North Community Center (KCNCC) Th & Fri from noon-8pm, Nov. 5 & 6. KCNCC is located at 3930 N.E. Antioch Road, KCMO, 64117 / (816) 784-6100. Shirt sizes not guaranteed & shirts may not be available on race day. Race day onsite packet pick-up will start at 7:30am. Good luck!
