Brief Description

The races are organized by the Herndon Parks and Recreation Department and will begin and end at the Herndon Community Center on Ferndale Avenue. A Fitness Expo will be held in conjunction with the races. Both of the races will run on certified courses throughout the town on paved roads. Water stops will be available throughout the course. Runners will be timed using the ChampionChip Race Timing system.

Awards

Awards will be given to the top two finishers, male and felmale, for each race in the follwing age categories: 10 and under, 11-14,15-19,20-29,30-39,40-49,50-59,60-69,70 and over. Overall winners & age division winners will receive awards. T-shirts will be given to all pre-registered 10K and 5K participants.

Please Note

Participants should be able to complete the 10K race in 90 minutes or less and the 5K in 45 minutes. After these times, race officials will transport any participants remaining on the courses back to the Community Center. Both the 10K and 5K courses are USATF certified. USATF rules prohibit strollers, baby joggers, pets, in-line skates and headphones on the course.

Registration and Packet pick Up

You may register and pick up race t-shirts, championChips and race numbers on Saturday, June 5th from 11am-4pm at the Herndon Community Center. You can register on Sunday, June 6th from 6:15 to 7:15 am, but expect to be in lines

Picking up for your Friends and Relatives

We do allow runners to pick up bibs and t-shirts for their friends. Please note that t-shirts cannot be mailed. You will not need to show us your ID or copies of their ID to pick up for them.

Directions

From Northern Virginia/DC/Maryland, take Route 66 or Route 495 to the Dulles Toll Road. Take the Toll Road west to Exit 10 toward Herndon. Turn right on Elden Street. Take a left immediately after the fifth light onto Ferndale Avenue.

Parking

Limited parking will be available at the Herndon Community Center. Additional parking is available at Herndon Middle School which is located at 901 Locust Street. From Elden Street, take a right turn on Locust Street before coming to Ferndale Avenue.

ChampionChip Race Timing

This event will be scored using the ChampionChip Timing System. Runners can bring their own chip (must indicate personal chip on registration form) or at packet pick-up, runners will be issued a DISPOSABLE computer chip. The disposable chips are new this year. These chips must be attached to the shoe and worn throughout the race for timing results. Special mats at the finish line will record a finishing time for each runner with a chip. *This race uses timing mats at the finish line only

Additional Information

T-shirts will be given to all pre-registered runners. Racers will also receive a post-race pass to the Herndon Community Center for refreshments and live entertainment.
You must be present to receive random awards provided by local merchants and restraunts at the awards ceremony.
