There is also a 5K loop race around Unicoi Lake beginning at the Park Lodge at 10:00a.m..
The awards ceremony will be at 4:30 PM in the Unicoi State Park Lodge where there will be a mini-expo for the runners.
Other features of the races are: 1) chip timing (no hassling with finish cards and shivering pens), 2) baggage checkin for those in the 17K that want some warm clothes at the finish atop Hogpen Gap and 3) shuttle buses from the finish of the 17K back to the Lodge (family, friends and spectators can ride the buses to the finish of the 17K - no cars allowed in the pasrking lot at the finish!, 4) a quality long-sleeved shirt - in '11 we had moisture wicking technical shirts and may have them again but we may be lucky enough to find and go back to the 3 button Henley shirts!
All proceeds of the races go to fund operating expenses (i.e. building houses) for the Northeast Georgia Habitat for Humanity .
A block of rooms are being held on a 1st come, 1st served basis who want to stay at Unicoi Lodge either the night before or the night of the races, or both. Further info at www.gastateparls.org/unicoi
