Brief Description

The Mother's Day Mile race is a one mile loop beginning and ending at Glenwood Medical Associates. Finish line roses, homemade pie, a silent gift basket auction and awards make this race a celebration for everyone. Dedicate this day to Mom!

Extra Information

The Mother's Day Mile is a one mile race generously sponsored for the past 11 years by Glenwood Medical Associates to benefit the programs of the Advocate Safehouse Project of Garfield County. Participants receive an eco bag, a finish line rose, a piece of homemade pie, and a chance to win age-group awards.

Starting Times

Opening ceremonies begin at 1pm. Wave #1 (children) at 1:15pm. Wave #2 (men and women under 40) at 1:35pm. Wave #3 (men and women 40 and over) at 1:55pm. Wave #4 (non-timed) for walkers, strollers and families at 2:10pm. Award ceremony at 3pm. Please leave Fido at home--we love dogs but just not on race day!

Registration

Pre-registration is encouraged: $15/individual and $55/family. Early registrants will receive a reusable goody bag with treats. Registration is at www.active.com; downloadable registration form at www.glenwoodmedical.com or www.advocatesafehouse.org; or in person at Glenwood Medical Associates or US Bank after April 10.

AGAIN THIS YEAR: Giant Gift Basket Silent Auction

Shop under the Big Tent for those last minute gifts for Mom. We'll have over fifty specially wrapped baskets filled with goodies from exercise baskets, to golf baskets, to coffee baskets, to kids books baskets, to cooking baskets, etc. Each basket is more beautiful than the next! Bring your Mom and your wallet and help support the mission of the Advocate Safehouse Project!

AGAIN THIS YEAR--AWARDS from IMANI Workshops

Again this year we continue our local and global partnership with the Imani Workshops in Eldoret, Kenya, a program for the prevention/treatment of HIV. Local business owner Lisa Manzano of Mona Lisa Boutique will join the sisterhood partnership by sponsoring the beautiful awards crafted by the men and women of Imani. Awards will be given to the Fastest Overall Male and Fastest Overall Female; age group awards; and special awards for fastest great-grandmom, grandmom and mom.

AGAIN THIS YEAR: Honoring First Responders

The Mother's Day Mile will once again honor our local Garfield County First Responders. We invite our local police, fire, emergency, search and rescue, to join us for a complimentary registration and honorary cap.Thanks for keeping us all safe for over 23 years of the Advocate Safehouse Project!

AGAIN THIS YEAR: MDM GREEN TEAM

The MDM is committed to saving Mother Earth for the next generation of mothers. We're going "Zero Waste" ...or darn near close! No more plastic bottled water, reusuable cloth goody bags, printing on post consumer recycled paper, and compostable plates, cups, and waste bags. Join us by carpooling, walking, taking RFTA, or biking to the Race!

NEW THIS YEAR: US Bank Chip Timing!

New this year will be chip timing sponsored by US Bank of Glenwood Springs. Look for your ankle chips on race day. Thank you US BANK for taking the Mother's Day Mile to the big time with professional race results and finish line announcements!
