Additional Information
The course is generally a gentle downhill, following the Colorado River, with a few short and steeper downhills, and an uphill finish. The morning weather tends to start out slightly chilly, and end up fairly warm. However, a jacket or other warmer clothing is recommended if it rains. Warm-up clothing may be left with the buses at the race start for return to the race finish.
Race fee includes a long-sleeved T-shirt.
Also, all entrants in the Shuffle draw five playing cards and the best hand wins a $100 jackpot.
Race details:
DETAILS. Racers should park at the race finish at No Name rest area at Exit 119 on Interstate 70 east of Glenwood Springs. Half marathon bus to the start will leave at 8:15 a.m. sharp, 5K transportation will leave at 9:30 a.m. Bus transportation courtesy of Roaring Fork RE-1 School District. Relay leg transitions are at the Bair Ranch, Hanging Lake, Shoshone Power Plant & Grizzly Creek rest areas, and respective relay legs are approximately 2.7, 3.6, 2.7, 1.8 and 2.7 miles. Relay teams are responsible for providing their own vehicle transport of runners to their starting points and picking them up at the next transition area as the race progresses. (From the east, Hanging Lake can be reached by car only by continuing west to Grizzly Creek and then returning east to this exit.) Team sponsorships by companies, service clubs, etc. are encouraged. Water, energy drinks and refreshments will be provided at rest areas and finish line. 5K awards will be handed out at 11:15 a.m.; half marathon at 11:30 a.m. at the No Name rest area. Questions?
