Brief Description

Gateway Canyons is located in Gateway, CO in the beautiful red rock canyon country south of Grand Junction. Weather typically 60's this time of year and almost ALWAYS sunny! 9:30AM for 5 Mile and 10:00AM for Half-Marathon

Entry Fees

$35 until March 8th, 2009 $40 thereafter

Course

5 mile course-Begins 5 miles south of Gateway on Hwy 141. Half-Marathon course- Begins 13.1 south of Gateway on Hwy 141. Free shuttle service will be available from Gateway Canyons to start. Both courses are entirely on paved roads. Rolling course Starting Elevation: 4700’. Ending Elevation: 4550’. Total loss= -150’

Shuttles

Shuttle service available to start line. Gear may be left at the start and will be returned to the finish. Runners are ultimately responsible for their own shuttle if space is not available on the courtesy shuttles. Limited transportation to retrieve vehicles left at the start will be available after the awards ceremony.

Categories

Male and Female: 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, etc up to 60 and over.

Packet Pick-Up/Late Registration

3 to 6pm on Friday evening at Gateway Canyons Resort (follow signs) or Sat morning from 6am to 8:30am SHARP. No day of registrations after 8:30am please.

Gear Drop

Runners will be able to drop off clothing at the start. Place clothes in a bag with bib number at the designated drop zone. The zone will be noted. Bib number will be written on bag with marker and gear can be retrieved at the finish. Not responsible for lost or stolen gear.

Porta Jons

Porta jons at the start of the half-marathon, and at the start of the 5 mile.

Rules of the Road

The CO State Patrol has kindly asked us to require runners to follow the rules of the road on this open-to-traffic course. Please run facing traffic (what little there is) and attempt to stay single file (except when passing of course). Cattle guards will be mostly covered with rubber mats.

Aid Stations

Mile 3.5, Mile 6, Mile 8 (5 mile run start), Mile 11.5 and the FINISH! Aid stations will have both water and Gatorade and an assortment of other goodies!

Results

Results will be posted within 24hrs after the race www.gatewaycanyons.com (click on the event calendar and select the March 21st, 2009 date- follow the results link!) Results will also be emailed.

After Race/Awards

Stay after the race to enjoy a meal- first beer is on us! ($10 for additional meal tickets) Awards: Approximately 12:00-12:30 (There is no cutoff time and we will do our best to wait for the last racer.)

Late Fees and Refunds

Late fees will apply after March 8th. No refunds will be given after entry is placed online or received otherwise. We race rain or shine.

Additional Information

Race will start 5 or 13.1 miles south of Gateway on Hwy 141 and follow the Dolores River back to the resort. All paved. Road will be open to traffic for this 2nd year race. Beautiful Red Rock Canyon!
