The Fallen Hero’s 5K was a race started 6 years ago to memorialize those heroes who gave their lives for this country. Money raised is donated to charities that help military members and their families. Our main recipient from past years has been the Navy Seal Foundation. This year we plan to donate to the UDT/SEAL Association and the Gainesville Fisher House. The Association is a non-profit veterans organization that helps veteran SEALs and their family members with financial need. The Gainesville Fisher House gives lodging and the basic necessities to veterans who are having medical work done at the local VA.
The race will take place April 20th 2013 at 9a.m. at the University of Florida Commuter Lot. The course is a USTAF sanctioned course that goes around campus starting and ending at the commuter lot with a furious downhill finish. This race is a walk, run and roll event, everyone is welcome to take part.
Our goal is to support veterans and their families who need help financially. They have given their all for us, risking their lives at the cost of our freedom, running this race is the least we can do in honor of them. The Fallen Heroes 5K is in honor of two of UF’s fallen heroes, Navy SEAL James Suh, and Naval Special Warfare Officer Thomas Fouke. Both were UF alumni and died while serving their country. They gave their all for their teammates, their family and their country. Go Navy, and Go Gators.
Packet pickup is begins at 8:00 AM on race day. T-shirts are included in the registration.
