Brief Description

8th Annual UMW 5K Run starts and finishes in near Goolrick Gymnasium next to the Fitness Center on the beautiful UMW campus. The course is a scenic run through the campus and the surrounding neighborhood. Proceeds will be donated to the UMW Athletic Dept., specifically the Men's and Women's Basketball Programs.

Directions to Parking Deck

From I-95:take Exit 130A (Rt. 3 East) and follow through five stop lights and take the overpass to U.S. 1 North. From U.S. 1 North: Go past the intersection with College Ave and take the next right. Follow the signs to the parking deck. From U.S. 1 South: Proceed past the intersection at Mary Washington Boulevard. Make the next left, following the signs for the parking deck. From College Ave:Turn right onto Rt. 1 and then make the first right. The parking deck is straight ahead.

Packet Pick-Up

Packet-Pickup will be Friday, September 21st from 4:00-7:00 p.m.on the UMW campus at Lee Hall Terrace as part of the UMW Family Weekend festivities. Pick-up will also be available race day from 6:15-7:00 a.m. near the Goolrick Gymnasium entrance near the start line.

Additional Information

This year the race organizers encourage you to consider making a donation to the "Nothing But Nets" campaign which uses the donations to buy mosquito nets to battle malaria, a leading cause of death among African children. See http://www.nothingbutnets.net for details. We will again also serve as a drop off for used running shoes. Shoes will be collected in boxes/bags near the starting line and given to a local effort to recycle used running shoes for Africa. Last year over 100 pairs of shoes were collected.
