Brief Description

Join us for the 39th Year of the Wilderness Run and a new 8-Mile course! The Wilderness Run is a challenging and scenic course in the foothills outside the Gila Wilderness, taking place off-pavement, on trails and roads in the Gila National Forest within the old Fort Bayard Military Reservation.

8M Run / 5K Run / 5K Walk. Awards. RRCA event. . Participate in the scenic and challenging Wilderness Run, taking place in the foothills of the Pinos Altos Mountain Range, outside of the Gila Wilderness.

The races are organized by the Grant County Striders with sanction of Road Runners Club of America. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Silver High School Cross Country Team and Avon Walk For Breast Cancer.

Course: The courses for the 8 mile Ft. Bayard Wilderness Run and the 5K events are set on dirt trails and roads in the Gila National Forest and on the grounds of the National Historic Landmark Fort Bayard Hospital. The New 8-Mile course features more running on dirt trails and eliminates the gravel road return to the finish.

Awards: Trophy awards for event winners are custom-designed Mimbres-style pottery.

Other Events: The Silver City Blues Festival, FREE at Gough Park. Same day!!!

You will be responsible for any entry fee difference due to incorrect fee selection (i.e. selecting pre-registration fee after due date).
