5K Race

The Goblin Gallop offers a competitive 5K Race over rolling terrain with a few challenging hills along the way. The event starts and finishes at Fairfax Corner and offers all participants a glo-in-the-dark t-shirt, a goody bag, ChronoTrack Timing by Capital Running Company, a chance to win over $3000 in value through awards and random prizes and post-race refreshments and entertainment.

ChronoTrack Timing and Scoring

Transponder timing operated by Capital Running Company will be used to score the 5K race. The system uses a computer "tag" which must be tied to each runners' shoelaces and records the exact time a runner crosses the starting line and the finish line, resulting in a net time for each runner. The D-tag is disposable. Overall awards will be based upon clock time and age group awards will be based upon transponder times.

Awards

Over $3,000 in prizes to be awarded in the 5K Race. The top three male and female finishers overall receive gift certificates of $150, $100, and $50. The top three male and female finishers in the masters category receive gift certificates of $40. Age group winners also receive gift certificates with $35 for 1st, $25 for 2nd and $15 for 3rd. The age groups are 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 and over.

1K Fun Run

The Goblin Gallop offers a 1K Fun Run for participants of all ages that prefer a shorter distance. The event offers a mostly flat .62 mile course that starts and finishes in the shopping center. Athletes can either run or walk the distance and all finishers will receive medals. A large running clock will be displayed at the finish line for those that wish to be timed. Costumes are encouraged in the event.

5K Walk

The Goblin Gallop offers a scenic 5K Walk for participants who prefer a slower, more relaxing pace for their exercise. The course is the same as the 5K Race and offers rolling terrain with a few challenging hills to make things more interesting. The event starts right after all the 5K Race participnats have started their event. A running clock will be displayed at the finish line for those that wish to be timed. Costumes are encouraged in the event.
