Brain Injury Services is hosting the 7th Annual Kit Callahan’s Miracle Mile at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. The mission of the “Miracle Mile” is to provide an event that rejoices in the triumphs of survivors with brain injuries; provide community outreach and education about brain injuries; promote prevention; and raise funds to continue the efforts of local non-profit community based organizations that assist people with brain injuries and their families.

Brain Injury Awareness Fair

The whole family can enjoy FREE activities and games while learning about brain injury prevention. The fair is open during and after the events. Past activities have included a coloring station, bike helmet give-away station, fire prevention and education, face painting, course scavenger hunt and much, much more!

Miracle Mile Team Cup

We are reaching out to businesses and individuals in the area to support this event by creating a TEAM. Each team will be recognized at the event with team signs. The team who registers the most participants will have their team name and team members initials engraved on the Miracle Mile Cup. This cup can be proudly displayed in your corporate office during a portion of the year. Last year, Team Deloitte won the inaugural team cup by having 42 individuals register for their team.

Sign Up for an Online Training Program

The Kit's Miracle Mile 10K has teamed up with ActiveTrainer coaches to provide training plans specifically for this race. These plans are designed for athletes of ALL levels, from the first-timer all the way up to the most experienced athlete. Included with your training plan is an online calendar, reporting tools, training calculators, maps, daily emails, and much more!

Registration Information

Pre-registration for this event is strongly encouraged. All participants who register for this event by 9/10/10 will be guaranteed an event t-shirt. Individuals who register on the day of the event will be charged $30 and will not be guaranteed an event t-shirt. One week before the event, directions and other information will be emailed to you. Registered entrants may also pick up their t-shirt and bib on the day of the event.

Schedule of Race Day Activities

7:30 AM - Registration and packet pick-up begins
8:30 AM - Opening Ceremony
9:00 AM - 10K Run/Walk and 2 Mile Run/Walk Event Start and Brain Injury Awareness Fair opens
9:15 AM - Fun Run and Survivor's Circle of Hope Start
10:00 AM - Kick off of "Little Tykes" Fun Run
10:45 AM - Award Ceremony and Refreshments
Noon - Activities conclude

Cash Purse

The fastest overall male and female for the 10K race only will be awarded $100. The second place male and female will be awarded $75. The third place male and female will earn $50.

Age Groups

Top male & female finishers in the following age categories will each receive unique prizes for the 10K and 2 mile event: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 and over.
All survivors and fun run participants will receive a commemorative item to acknowledge their accomplishments.

ChronoTrack Timing and Scoring

Transponder timing operated by Capital Running Company will be used to score the 10K and 2 mile race. The system uses a computer "tag" which must be tied to each runners' shoelaces and records the exact time a runner crosses the starting line and the finish line, resulting in a net time for each runner. The D-tag is disposable. Overall awards will be based upon clock time and age group awards will be based upon transponder times.

Picking Up for Your Friends and Family

We do allow runners to pick up bibs and t-shirts for their friends. Please note that t-shirts cannot be mailed. You will not need to show us your ID or copies of their ID to pick up for them.
