Brief Description

The Alumni Association invites you to participate in the 3rd Annual Dragon Dash Scholarship Run & Walk at Glenelg Country School. This exciting event includes a cross-country 5K run/walk, a 1-mile family walk and, new this year, a hippity-hop race for kids! Proceeds from the event will fund two “Always a Dragon” awards, one a college scholarship for a graduating GCS senior and the other a tuition scholarship for a rising GCS ninth grader.

Race Course Description and Regulations

The 5K cross-country course traverses the school’s scenic campus, taking runners and walkers from open fields to wooded paths. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers and pets are not allowed. The 1-mile family walk follows the flat, open driveway of the school and the use of strollers and wheelchairs is permitted. Kids hippity-hop races take place on a level, grassy area and participants will be divided by age into separate heats on race day.

T-Shirts, Amenities and Awards

All pre-registered entrants receive a Dragon Dash t-shirt. T-shirt sizes and availability are not guaranteed if registering after September 28, 2012, or on the morning of the race day. Water and post-race snacks provided. Prizes awarded to top finishers and all GCS students receive recognition for participation. Every participant has the chance to win one of many random prizes. Enjoy music and activities for the entire family!

Registration

By mail: Send your completed entry form and check, made payable to Glenelg Country School, to: Glenelg Country School, Dragon Dash, 12793 Folly Quarter Road, Ellicott City, MD 21042. Mailed registration must be received by September 28, 2012.

Online: Register at www.active.com by October 1, 2012. This year no processing fee!

Entry Fees

5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Walk

$25 Adult, $15 Student if registering on or before GCS Family Day on September 28, 2012 (children under the age of three are free and do not receive a t-shirt).

$30 Adult, $20 Student after September 28, 2012 and on race day (t-shirt not guaranteed).

Kids Hippity-Hop Race (PK3 – fifth grade)

$5 Student with any other run or walk registration (either their own or that of a family member).

Friday, October 5, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Race day check-in and packet pick-up: 7:30 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. at Glenelg Country School.
