Brief Description

The Waterway 5k/10K Run / Walk is organized to promote breast cancer awareness and raise funds for women who can not afford to have a screening mammogram. All of the proceeds from the Waterway 5k go to the Albemarle Hospital Foundation and are earmarked for women (and men) in the seven county service area (Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Pasquotank, and Perquimans) who cannot afford a mammogram.

Take Highway 17 Business to downtown Elizabeth City- Waterfront Park.

Additional Information

Packets may be picked up Friday, September 23, 2011 at Waterfront Park between 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm or race day at the registration tent beginning at 6:30 a.m. Top three overall male and female finishers, and top three male and female finishers in each of the following age categories: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 - 69, 70 & up The Ipico Sports Timing System will be used to score the race. Results will be handled by Run the East LLC. All participants are required to pick up a timing chip the morning of the race. Those who do not pick up a chip will not receive a time or be eligible for awards. All chips must be returned before leaving the finish area. Following the races, entertainment will be provided by DJ-TAZ, along with refreshments, fruit and Gatorade.
