Brief Description

This is a USAT sanctioned Duathlon and a 5K Run/Walk.

USAT Sanctioned Du and 5K

This is a USAT Sanctioned Duathlon. Join us for our 4th Annual Du Bears Duathlon and separate 5K Run at the San Pablo Reservoir. Events: >Duathlon - 2.35 Mile Run / 18.7 Mile Bike / 2.2 Mile Run >5K Run/Walk

Venue - San Pablo Dam Reservoir

The Reservoir provides the greatest course to challenge you, but not break you. The bike course circles the Reservoir and encompasses the 3 Bears... Mama, Papa, and Baby. But most important is the beauty of this venue. Whether it's Summer, Spring, Fall, or Winter the foliage changes, the sun peaks over the lake, or hides in misty fog. It's a photo moment every time ! We have a gem here in the East Bay.

Course Description -Duathlon

Only you get to cross the DAM. Great View! The run, 2.35 is half asphalt and half trail. Off to your bike which will be racked in 10 year age groups by gender. Ride around the Bears, come back in and here is the difference on the second run. It will only be 2.2 miles, but you will appreciate the shorter distance because the runs are rolling hills. Down the hill make immediate left and down to the end of the Dam. Go around the turnaround and back up to the finish line in the Upper Parking lot.

Course Description - 5K

Take off with the Du'ers. The 5K will be on the same route, but will continue down a gentle slope to the end of the trail for the turnaround. Back up the trail and across the Dam again... enjoy the view, but just for a moment (it is a race afterall!). Back onto the asphalt and head for the Upper Parking lot (a short hill) to the Finish Line.

Awards

The 5K awards are plaques to overall Male and Female winners and Medals to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each 5 year age group... not 10 years. All finishers receive a Finisher Medal. For Duathletes we award plaques, 5 deep, in each 5 year age group. Also, we take special pride in our older age groups... it's tougher to do as we age. So, we give plaques to the Male and Female winners in 10 year age groups, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. And we have competitors over 70 at each event!
