Brief Description

All ski trails will be groomed for SKATE ONLY with no tracks set as the ski race is a skate only race. Great early season race to get under the belt! Snowshoe course will be on seperate trail on northern side.

Race Status

As of 1/7/12 evening, the forecast isn't looking promising for snow this next week, and with the record high temps and dry winter, the trails are currently brown, so we have closed registration, and will make a decision in the next couple of days. If the race is cancelled, those that registered will be able to use their registration in next year's race.

Ski Race Wave Starts

Waves are: Top 20% wave, 20-50 percentile wave, and 50+ percentile wave. These wave starts apply to both distances meaning all the fast racers will start together and etc. Please select based on how you expect to finish. This will ensure a smooth start for all abilities, and not disadvantage either distance. Waves will be 2 minutes apart. If you sign up for too fast of one, you won't have anyone to pace off of.

Snowshoe Division

Course will be seperate from the ski race, going through the northern part of Boulder. One mass start at 11:06 will be after the last ski wave going opposite direction over start line, and finish will be at adjoining finish line to the ski finish to utilize chip timing. Those doing 8 km will do two laps lapping before heading down into the finish. Commemorative race mugs to top 3 males and females in age groups 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+.

Grooming

Course open to preview Saturday. Grooming done Saturday night grooming out classic tracks on the side of the skate course and on the snowshoe course.

Water Stations

The Snowshoe course will have a water station on the section that is 2 way traffic (course is like an hour glass shape). You'll hit this twice if you're doing 4 km, or 4 times if doing the 8 km.

The ski race has a water station (The Ski Hut Water Stop) at a 2 way traffic section, which you'll hit at roughly the 1/4 and 3/4 mark of each lap (so ~5 km).

Cut Off Time

1:20 p.m.: Ski course lap intersection is closed, so any skiers coming through that spot to go for their third lap in the 31 km are directed to the finish and can't go for their third lap.
